Flavours and Fillings

Here at Dumbledart’s, we like to try and keep things as simple as possible. We know that an easier life can be a better life and hate it when things become far too complicated for their own good. This is why all of the flavours and fillings that you see below are included in the cost of your cake.

These are our most popular, but by no means the only ones that we produce. If you have a filling that you think your cake absolutely cannot be without, please pop us a message via the contact us page and we will do our best to see that your every wish is our command. 

Please note, special flavour requests may be subject to a small surcharge, but where possible, we do our best to absorb the costs ourselves.

The flavours for certain sponges and buttercreams are achieved with good quality extracts or flavourings. Our chocolate based cakes and buttercreams, contain good quality cocoa. Our coffee based cake and buttercream are flavoured with rich strong coffee. 

Choosing your flavours

When selecting your sponge, flavour of buttercream and the filling for your cake, you can make it as individual as you are, opting for any combination that suits you.

If you are opting for a chocolate, coffee or carrot cake and do not want a jam/curd filling, then simply select the 'no filling' option in the flavouring options box provided during ordering. This means that your cake will only be filled with the buttercream that you choose and not a jam/curd filling.

The buttercream will always be added to the inside of your cake as well as a coating to the outside before the fondant is applied.

If you are opting for a buttercream covered cake and would like the buttercream to be a specific colour on the exterior, we will always do our best to accommodate. Please be aware however that this is not always possible with every flavour of buttercream, the chocolate based ones for example. If you would like clarification before ordering, please do not hesitate to send us a message.

Bakers Choice

When you order your cake you will come across an option in the buttercream and filling boxes called Bakers Choice. This is a service that we are happy to provide for those who are unsure of what fillings and buttercreams go with which sponge.

Imagine us being like the personal shopper of the cake world! We will pick the flavours for you and message you with what we think will go nicely with your chosen sponge. If you are happy with our choices we will then proceed with the flavour combination for your cake.

So all you need to do is pick your sponge flavour and let us take care of the rest.

Cream Cheese Flavoured Frosting

It isn't just sponge cakes that we produce here. We also offer an option to order rich fruit cakes which are loaded with plenty of alcohol soaked fruit. The alcohol burns off in the cooking process, so is simply there for the flavour.

We can use Rum, Whiskey or Brandy in the process and nuts can be added too, if you're not already nutty enough! We would strongly recommend that you order a fruit cake at least 8-10 weeks in advance to get the best flavour from your cake, giving it a chance to 'age'.

Food intolerance can be catered for. However, our cakes are produced in a home kitchen that handles WHEAT, GLUTEN, DAIRY, NUTS, EGGS, SOYA and FISH. We do our best with any 'free from' order so that there is no cross contamination, but we cannot 100% guarantee that this doesn't happen. 

We need to be made aware of any dietary requirements at the point of ordering, we ask that you do this by sending us through a message. All cakes ordered leave us with a label on the box, clearly stating all the allergen information that you will need.
